Spinach Avocado Dip

Everyone loves dip and this spinach avocado dip definitely does not disappoint!  This recipe was submitted by Linda Pettigrew, one of the November Unconventional Foodie Club recipe contest winners!

I am Linda Ann Pettigrew, formerly of Westbury, NY, Long Island and I lived there from 1961 till 2014, but New York has a history of attitudes and a sense of humor especially for business, we need to make sure it's done the right way, 110%...

I know living in a house of tough love with my parents, they taught me the right wisdom to deal with the world. I live now in Lancaster, California since 2004. I moved here with my Mom. She passed away January 2014 (my dad before in 1996). I have my close friend Mark living with me (sweetest soul, you'll love him...omg) and my dog Lucy (who will be 13 years old on December 6, by furry baby)...Both are my white angels... I love being a new YOrker with th California sunshine.

I chose the Spinach Avocado Dip in a bread bowl because, omg... at family holiday gatherings it was terrific!!! My mom was glad, but made sure it was shared for everyone else but she herself loved it too!

The Unconventional Foodie Club is a great place to eat healthier... You can learn to eat healthy for yourself first and see IF others follow - very important to do for yourself first.

Yummy dip for your next party!

For the dip

  • 1/2 C organic spinach
  • 2 avocado
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1/4 C fresh cilantro
  • 3/4 C plain Greek yogurt
  • 1 TBSP fresh lime juice (about one lime)
  • 3 TBSP avocado oil

To Serve

  • organic bread bowl optional


  • Blanch spinach for 2 minutes, drain and squeeze out excess water
  • Process all dip ingredients in food processor
  • Optional: To serve, hollow out a round loaf of organic bread and place dip in center. Serve with bread, celery, crackers or pita chips
  • Serve immediately
