Gluten-Free Flaxseed Wrap

Gluten-Free Flaxseed Wrap

I’m super excited to bring you this recipe today!  It’s actually taken straight out (with a few spice additions) of Dr. William Davis‘ book Wheat Belly, which you can pick up on Amazon.

In a nutshell, Dr. Davis talks about how the wheat that we eat today is not the wheat of our ancestors and is what is causing so many of the chronic diseases that are so prevalent today!

I can’t say that I disagree totally.  Although I do feel that eating some grains are a good thing, sadly, most Americans eat WAY too much processed foods!

Although I personally do not have any real gluten intolerance issues, I do believe that to limit gluten intake is the healthiest thing to do.

I believe (as does Dr Axe, in his article, Wheat Belly Diet Plan, Benefits & Recipes Ideas, goes in to great detail regarding the benefits of eating a reduced gluten diet.

In my opinion, the number that should be watched is the fiber number.  Eating a diet that is high in fiber will provide enormous health benefits, satiety (which means you’ll eat less and lose weight) and you will also be able to help your liver to detoxify your body.  Having a high fiber diet, is also good for your gut and allows your body to properly absorb the nutrients you eat!

All that being said, EVERYONE craves bread and most of the gluten-free alternatives are not much better nutritionally for you than the gluten varieties, so YAY and thank you Dr Davis for this yummy recipe.  Full disclosure, I have taken a few liberties with the spices…lol, but that’s just the Unconventional Foodie in me!

Bon Appetit!
