"It's NOT just about the food....it's personal!"

Cinnamon Oatmeal with Dates

There isn’t much more comforting or energizing in the morning than a warm bowl of cinnamon oatmeal.  But this definitely isn’t your grandmother’s oatmeal.

This recipe skips the sugar and uses delicious Medjool dates for the sweetener.  And, when they are cooked in with the oatmeal, they come out melt in your mouth yummy!  I also like to use raisins cooked in my oatmeal as well, but hey, that’s just me, and you know, variety is the spice of life, right?!

This recipe couldn’t be much simpler.  All there is to it is to put in about a one inch piece of stick cinnamon in your cooking water, chop up a couple of dates and plop them in as well.

When your water comes to a boil, just stir in your oats and cook for about 10 minutes.

I don’t know about you, but I like to cook my oatmeal until it’s nice and thick and creamy, so I prefer to add a little milk.  That’s no problem at all, because the milk of choice for me is cashew milk.  I know I have almond milk shown here in the recipe, and you can definitely use that also.  You could also use coconut milk.  That would taste really yummy too!

This recipe is the day three (3) breakfast main dish recipe of my 7-Day Meal Plan program. I created the program because after researching the meal plan program provided by a recognized authority on diabetes, I was appalled at the ingredients and nutrition values.
